Real-time Editing

Last updated: May 2026

Real-time editing lets multiple people work on the same board, document, or Tactic at the same time and see each other's changes live.

Plan Requirements

Real-time team collaboration is part of the Team Workspace, which is included with the Max plan. On Free, Plus, and Pro you can still share view-only and edit links with anyone, and changes from a single editor will sync to viewers, but the live multi-editor experience (cursors, simultaneous edits, presence) requires Max.

How It Works

When two or more people open a shared project, Storyflow keeps everyone's view in sync automatically. Changes propagate across:

  • Whiteboard elements (notes, images, connections, walls)
  • Document content and formatting
  • Tactic cards and their organization
  • Element positions, sizes, colors, and styling

Seeing Collaborators

On Max team workspaces you can see:

  • Who else is currently viewing or editing the project
  • Real-time cursor positions of other users on the canvas
  • User avatars showing active collaborators

Real-time Updates

When a collaborator creates, moves, or edits something, everyone sees it immediately. This includes:

  • Element creation and deletion
  • Position and size changes
  • Content and text edits
  • AI generation progress (so the team can watch results stream in)

Auto-Save

All changes save automatically. If two people edit the same element at the same instant, the most recent change is preserved.

Setting Up Your Team

To enable real-time team collaboration, upgrade to Max from Account Settings → Subscription, then invite teammates from the Team Workspace settings. Each teammate gets a seat on the same workspace with the role you assign.
