Nested Whiteboards & Folders

Last updated: May 2026

Whiteboards on the canvas double as folders — drop one onto your board and you can open it like a sub-board, or use it to group related boards inside a project.

Adding a Whiteboard / Folder

  • Toolbar: Pick the Whiteboard (folder) tool
  • Keyboard: Hover the canvas and press F

Opening a Nested Whiteboard

Click a whiteboard element to open it. You enter the nested board with its own canvas. Use the navigation breadcrumb to go back up.

Customizing the Folder

  • Pick from the icon gallery to give the folder a recognizable visual
  • Color-code the folder background or its gradient border
  • Resize folders with the corner handles to make important ones stand out
  • Rename inline by clicking the folder title

Use Cases

  • One project = one canvas, with sub-boards for research, planning, execution, archive
  • Per-client folders inside a workspace
  • Per-episode folders inside a podcast or video project
  • Sandbox folders for experiments you don't want cluttering the main board

Tips

  • Right-click a folder to duplicate, delete, or rename quickly
  • Move folders between projects from the navigation sidebar's right-click menu
  • Apply a Wall Theme around a group of folders for visual grouping
