Framing Tool

Framing Tool

Last updated: May 2026

The Framing tool lets you draw a rectangular frame anywhere on the canvas. Use it to group ideas visually, mark a section of a board for review, or scope a part of a board you want to capture or share.

How to Draw a Frame

  1. Open the canvas zoom controls in the bottom-right corner
  2. Click the frame icon to enter frame mode (the cursor changes to a crosshair)
  3. Click and drag anywhere on the board to draw the frame
  4. Release the mouse to commit the frame at that size

You can also press F while the canvas is in focus to toggle frame mode on and off. Press Escape to exit frame mode without drawing anything.

What Frames Are For

  • Visually group a set of related elements without grouping them as a wall
  • Mark a region of the board for review or feedback
  • Define an area you want to share or focus a presentation on
  • Scope an experiment or workspace section

Working with Existing Frames

Once a frame is on the canvas, you can resize it by dragging its edges, move it by dragging its border, or remove it from the right-click menu. Frames don't move the elements inside them — they're a visual overlay rather than a container like a wall.
