Web Search in AI Chat

Last updated: May 2026

When the AI needs current information to answer your prompt, it can search the web in real time. You can see exactly what it's searching for and which sources it pulls from while the response is being generated.

How It Works

For prompts that benefit from up-to-date research — current events, recent product launches, statistics, trends — the AI will trigger a web search automatically. As it searches, you'll see:

  • Inline web-search progress indicators
  • Source domain previews as they're discovered
  • Linked sources extracted automatically and shown alongside the response

Verifying What the AI Found

Click any source link in the response to open it in a new tab. This makes it easy to double-check claims, dig deeper into a specific source, or pull a quote directly from the original.

When Web Search Triggers

  • Asking about recent events, launches, or trends
  • Asking for statistics, market sizes, or industry data
  • Researching companies, people, or competitors
  • Asking for examples or case studies from real-world brands

Tips

  • Ask follow-ups to compare or summarize the discovered sources
  • Use source previews to decide where to deepen research next
  • Pair research prompts with @mention context from your board for grounded outputs
