Files & Exports

Last updated: August 2026
Every file the AI makes — PDF, spreadsheet, Word file, board export — is delivered the same way.
On a board, the file lands as a file card on the canvas, with a preview of its first page where one can be made. It sits with the rest of your work and everyone on the board can open it.
Off a board — in home chat, or while you are in a document — there is no canvas to put it on, so the file comes back as a download in the conversation. This is deliberate: a deliverable is a deliverable wherever you asked for it, and you do not need a board open to make one.
You get the download either way. The board card is the extra.
Ask for a change and the AI replaces the file card rather than adding a second one, so your board does not fill with five versions of the same PDF. While it is working, the card is ringed on the canvas — rendering takes tens of seconds and the card goes on showing the old file until the new one is ready, so the mark is what tells you something is happening.
If you want both versions, say so.
A file card is a board change like any other, so the chat's Undo removes it and Ctrl+Z works on the canvas. The file itself has already been made and charged for — undo takes the card off your board, it does not un-render the document.
A rendered file can come back with open items: things the page needed that you never supplied. A client name, a date, a figure. They are listed on the card under the file, and answering them is how the next version gets filled in — rather than the AI inventing a plausible name and you finding it in front of a client.
