Some numbers are easier to see than to read. The AI can draw a chart inside its answer, where it costs you nothing to ignore and nothing lands on your canvas.

This is why it can visualize things in home chat and inside a document, where there is no board to build on.

When it does this on its own

The AI will chart a series without being asked when it is holding four or more comparable values — one measure across quarters, categories, channels or stages.

The floor of four is deliberate. Two numbers and the change between them is one comparison, and a chart of two or three values is worse than the sentence it replaced, so those stay as prose.

The words still do the work

A chart in a reply is evidence, not the answer. Alongside it the AI reads it out: the finding in a sentence, the movers with their figures, the arithmetic you would otherwise do yourself, and a note on anything it derived rather than counted.

Keeping one

Every chart in a reply carries a "…" menu with Add to board, so a chart you like becomes a real element on your canvas. From the same menu you can switch how it is drawn or save it as a PNG — and a type you switch to is remembered when you come back to the conversation.

Asking for the board instead

If you want the chart on your canvas from the start, say so — "put a chart of this on the board" — and it is created there as a proper element rather than drawn in the reply.
