What Are Blueprints?

Last updated: November 2024

Blueprints are structured templates in Storyflow that help you transform abstract ideas into concrete, actionable plans. They consist of flip cards that you can fill in step by step, with optional AI assistance for each card.

How Blueprints Work

A blueprint consists of cards arranged in a grid. Each card has two sides:

  • Front: Contains the title, subtitle, and your main content or image
  • Back: Contains additional information, notes, and AI assistance

Click the info icon on any card to flip it and see the back side. Cards support rich text editing, images, and tags for organization.

View Modes

Blueprints offer two view modes that you can switch between:

  • Card View: See all cards in a visual grid layout. Great for overview and quick editing.
  • Document View: Work through cards in a focused document-style interface. Better for detailed writing.

Blueprints created from scratch use document-per-card mode (each card has its own document). Blueprints created from admin templates use a single document for the entire blueprint.

Creating Blueprints

There are several ways to create blueprints:

  1. From the Dashboard: Click the "+" button and select "Blueprint"
  2. From the Whiteboard: Press B or use the toolbar to add a blueprint
  3. From Templates: Browse the Tactics library and select a pre-made blueprint template

Using AI in Blueprints

Each blueprint card has access to StoryflowAI. Click on a card to open it, then use the AI chat to get help filling in that specific card. The AI understands the context of your blueprint and can provide relevant suggestions.

Blueprint Features

  • Favorites: Mark cards as favorites for quick access
  • Tags: Add tags to categorize and organize your cards
  • Images: Add header images to cards for visual appeal
  • View All Info: Toggle to show the back of all cards at once
  • Add Cards: Click the empty card slot to add new cards to your blueprint
