Last updated: November 2024

Storyflow's AI Writing Assistant helps you write better, faster. When working in documents, you have access to an integrated AI panel alongside your editor, plus a powerful Writing Analyzer that gives you real-time feedback on your content.

Accessing the AI Assistant in Documents

When you open a document, you'll see three panels you can toggle on the right side:

  • AI Panel: Click the AI bubble icon to open the AI chat sidebar
  • Notes Panel: Click the lightbulb icon to access your document notes
  • Writing Analyzer: Click the analyze icon to see writing metrics and suggestions

The AI Chat Panel

The AI chat panel appears on the right side of your document. You can:

  • Ask questions about your writing
  • Request content generation, summaries, or rewrites
  • Get suggestions for improving specific sections
  • Use @ mentions to reference other documents, blueprints, or whiteboards for context

Writing Analyzer

The Writing Analyzer gives you real-time insights into your content:

  • Word Count: Track your document length
  • Readability Score: See how easy your content is to read
  • Sentence Analysis: Identify long or complex sentences
  • Adverb Detection: Find and reduce overused adverbs
  • Complex Words: Simplify vocabulary for better clarity
  • AI Phrases: Detect potentially AI-generated language patterns

Click on any highlighted issue to see it in context and get suggestions for improvement.

Document Editor Features

The document editor is built on TipTap and supports:

  • Rich text formatting (bold, italic, headings, lists)
  • Inline editing of document title
  • Auto-saving as you type
  • Export to PDF

Best Practices

  • Use context: @ mention related documents to give AI better context
  • Check the analyzer: Review the Writing Analyzer suggestions before finalizing
  • Iterate: Don't accept the first AI suggestion—ask for variations
  • Keep notes: Use the Notes panel to track ideas while writing
